Merry Christmas Kitties [Dec. 12th, 2006|09:08 pm]
Just thought I would post these pics of our kitties enjoying our (fake) Christmas tree :)
We've tried getting a real tree in the past, only to have the cats say: "oh, tree! must climb it!" and demolish everything in their path, including lights, ornaments, etc along the way! With the fake tree, they seem perfectly content just to lay under it....

Solly waiting for Santa :)

And - an update on the KITTEN kitties for anyone who is wondering--
A friend of mine from work adopted them and they are happy, healthy, and cute as ever. The new owner is my work "neighbor" and a bachelor of sorts, living in a condo by himself near our office and in definite need of some company!! I think the kitties have brightened his life and I'm SO SO happy I didn't have to take them to the pound or some such place. I don't think I could have brought myself to do it, but my husband was insistent that we couldn't keep 4 cats. It was a tough decision, and I cried after having them only for a month, but in the long run it was probably best for all parties involved!
Here are some recent pics - they are growing up :)

This one makes me super glad we were able to keep them together

~~~Merry Christmas everyone from our kitties to yours!~~~
The two cuties and my latest cat dilemma... [Aug. 10th, 2006|10:01 pm]
[Current Location |basement]
[mood |bouncybouncy]
[music |arrested development on dvd upstairs]
Check out these two cuties:
OMG I am in kitty heaven with these two! They are climbing all over me as I write this. In fact, one of them, the little one is actually watching the cursor move around the screen and trying to chase it. I am convinced she is a kitty prodigy. I have never seen a cat do that before!
Here is a pic of her close up, on the day we got her (try to ignore my fat belly hanging over my shorts!);
She's already a lot bigger in just a week!
So the story is, a woman I work with found this brother and sister abandoned and wandering around a construction site near her house. There was actually a third sister who she brought to the humane society. She brought them into work, intending to take them to the humane society too, but first sent out an email seeing if anyone wanted them. Of course I had to check them out, and I fell in love with the little one who I immediately named "Sunny." :)
There was supposed to be an owner for the bigger one (the boy), but they flaked out and these guys were so cute together I didn't want to separate them. So! I decided to see how it would go with both of them at our house, and to see how our other cats did with them. And - it has not exactly been the greatest situation... Our cats have been walking around hissing & spitting, and have now confined themselves to the upstairs of the house. Even that wouldn't bother me so much, except our littler cat (Solly) I think stopped eating and drinking for a couple days, and actually pooped on the rug one day (which could have been an accident since we moved their litter box). I've gotten paranoid that they might run away, since that happened with my friend Heather's cat when she got a new kitten.
So, long story short, I *think* we've decided to give them to some friends -- either our neighbors or this guy I work with. I'd rather our neighbors took them because then they'd be right nextdoor, and it would be less of a transition for them since our condos are attached! We'll see -- I guess his wife isn't a "pet person" but he has wanted a cat for about ever. They're the ones who always watch our cats when we go out of town and I think they'd be great owners!
Anyway, I'm rambling here... I'm drinking a beer and in the basement (with the kitties) while our friends are upstairs and I feel like I'm being anti-social! But get this -- they're allergic to cats and came to visit us for 4 days, with their baby! So you can imagine our place with 4 adults, 4 cats, and a 4-month-old baby! It's kind of a zoo here. But hey we're keeping life interesting I guess.
I'll keep you posted!
BTW, Jak: I miss you and read your last post -- I was gonna call you but I know you're busy with stuff, so I just wanted to say, call me anytime you want to talk! My petty cat issues probably seem like nothing in comparison to what you're dealing with. Hang in there sweetness! (to use your word!) Luv ya!
In my mind I'm goin to California... [Jun. 30th, 2006|11:02 pm]
[Current Location |home a la basement office]
[mood |goodgood]
So after your gushy note about my visit, I can't believe it took me so long to get my ass in gear and write back on here... I never even got to post *my* take on the visit! And here it is over a month later! Almost the 4th of July already! Sheesh! Where has the time gone?? Actually, you know me, so who knows where any time ever goes. ;) Anyway, just so you know, I had a fabulous time visiting you guys and I'm so glad I was able to take that trip. You don't even know how long I'd been wanting to come see you!!! Ever since our wedding, really! So, it was awesome to hang out and I'm glad I was able to semi- help you out too, even if I wasn't really doing anything major.. It was nice to feel needed and not just like a random houseguest, heehee :) And I know I wasn't helping with Hanna *that* much, but you made it seem like I was. And honestly, I was just telling Todd and Heather tonite, I'm so glad I got to spend REAL time with you while I was there. Getting to see you, getting to know your kids, etc. We were over at Heather's tonite to see their new baby, Jack (who was just born last week!) and I was telling her how it's hard to get to know someone's kids cause you usually either see them on a good day or a bad day. Or just not that often. But I feel like by staying with you I got to see the kiddos in all their glory! I have to admit I was a little nervous when I first got there - since I'm not usually around kids or babies - ! but they really grew on me... And I honestly missed them when I left! (and you too, of course, sniff sniff). So don't worry about what we didn't or didn't do while I was there, because honestly all I wanted to do was spend time with you guys, which is exactly what we did!
So I finally got around to posting up all of my pictures on www.kfunk.org (check it out!) and included some of the ones you sent me, too, since somehow I really didn't take that many! Or I guess it's like, once I developed my pictures I was like, hello? but we really did so much more! Oh well. Here's a little preview to my pics - this is actually my favorite one :)
I'll always remember those people who took it, too. ha! Remember the mother-daughter question-askers? Are you brothers and sisters?? Where'd you go to college??? ha. I have my LA pics up on there too, including the ones from that disposable camera! Fun!
Wah! I wish I was still on vacation!!!!!
Hey I'll also post a pic of me with little Jack Tobey. Aimee took this picture when we were at the hospital. I can't remember if I told you, he was born on Tuesday: 8 pounds 14 oz. Heather had a c-section after all-night labor. ugh. At least I'm glad he wasn't born while we were in St. Louis!
Sigh., All these vacations. I wish I was still on one. I don't wanna be back in reality! Tomorrow we actually have yet another wedding (! i know!), and for some reason I'm just not feelin it... It's one of Todd's friends from grad school. THe wedding is up in Fort Collins so at least it's not far away, but I think cause it's been so hot lately I'm just not inspired. Who knows.. I'll just have to get myself all liquored up and then it will all be good! (OMG: side note: have you seen Wedding Crashers? I didn't think I'd like it but tdogg convinced me to watch it. ha!)
Oh did ya get my message from starbucks the other day? Ah, I amuse myself so easily....
Well I'm gonna sign off here. Miss ya and goodnite~!
Hugs
The Chronic (What?) [Jan. 18th, 2006|11:03 pm]
[mood |dorkydorky]
Just had to pass this along for anyone who hasn't seen it :)
http://nbc.com/nbc/Video/?c=Saturday_Night_Live/snl_1432_narnia
I saw the movie last nite & I loved it by the way! A total kids' movie, but I am a sucker for that kind of thing. Plus: a talking lion, beavers, lord knows what other creatures of the netherworld, and your own personal unicorn??? You can't go wrong with that in my book!
Getting into the holiday spirit [Dec. 4th, 2005|09:02 pm]
[mood |cheerfulcheerful]
[music |Otis Redding]
Just thought I would say hello on here since it's been awhile! I never did cancel this acct, so I guess I can still play on here every once in a while. :)
I am starting to get into the holiday spirit, as are our kitties! My mom sent us these little mice, which I believe are catnip-filled. Fun for kitties!
I also went to a holiday/Christmas concert the other nite at CU. It was a blast, and my friend and I ended up right in the front row with some of the musicians! ha! Santa even came at the end. It was cute. And Boulder just had the big "Festival of Lights" the other nite, so that was fun. Even tho it was cold as BALLS that nite. But all the little Brownies & Girl Scouts were out there parading around, so we figured we could hack it too.
Happy approaching holidays everyone!!!
(Does this mean I have to start Xmas shopping?????)
Reaching out to old friends.... [Oct. 2nd, 2005|07:57 pm]
[mood |tiredtired]
[music |it ain't me babe, bob dylan]
I realize I am really bad at keeping up on here, so I am thinking I might discontinue this journal... Now that I have the journal set up, and yet I rarely write, it makes me wonder why I set it up in the first place. I have always considered myself a good communicator and keeping-in-touch-type person before now, but maybe I'm not. Or maybe this just isn't my best medium... E-form just ain't me! In any case, I just wanted to give a general "heads-up" in case you don't see me on here much after this.....
Oh, and in other news of keeping in touch in real life, I'll be at my 10-year college reunion in a few weeks. Meeting up with some of my old peeps and frequenting our old haunts! Should be a blast. And frightening that ten years has flown by already....
C-ya!
~PEACE OUT~
p.s. Been listening to a lot of Bob Dylan (notice below) and playing a lot of Dylan on guitar ever since that documentary on PBS the other day. That was awesome.
Long time no post......... [Jun. 30th, 2005|03:01 pm]
[mood |sillysilly]
Hello, LJ-saavy users....!
I suck. I am lame. I haven't posted anything in here in forEV. And I really have no excuse! I guess I'm just not very good about keeping up with things like this. Doesn't help that most of my friends aren't on here. But anyway! Here I am with a posting :) I wanted to write about our lovely trip to ~Hawaii~!! It was ohhh so relaxing. Really just pure, simple, vacation bliss. Total relaxation sprinkled with unadulterated fun! I loved it! I could totally see myself living in Hawaii someday. Who knows. Todd seems to think we would feel isolated (what? it's only like 2200 miles from the rest of civilization, come on!) but to me it felt peaceful. But I guess a lot of people who move there complain about that after the 1st few months or so - just being far away from friends/family, etc. Of course, I have to remember that the times I've been there have been for vacation, so it would definitely be different to actually live there, have a job, etc. So much for my fantasy. Oh well!
So here are a couple pictures from our trip. I'm going to include my cleavage one that I left off my website cause I was to embarrassed to post it, but I think it's cute of Todd. I'll also post a couple surfing ones -- we took a lesson while we were there & it was MEGA fun! I was so psyched cause I honestly didn't think I'd be able to do it. But it wasn't that hard! They start you out on these giant surfboards so you have plenty of surface area to balance on. Plus, as you can see, we weren't really dealing with killer waves or anything. ;)
For more of the same, check out www.kfunk.org & click on Pics from 2005, you'll see a Hawaii link on there. Enjoy!
p.s. I just have to add, while I'm on the Island Living tip... I bought this CD while we were there called 'Island Roots' by all local bands from Hawaii. It's sort of a reggae/R&B type mix. And the songs are so fun! We listened to it while driving all over the island. Like when we ended up on that tiny coastal road & ran into those donkeys... :) Anyway, now whenever I need a little pick-me-up, I pop in that CD and it instantly puts me in a good mood! Love it~~~!
cleavage one :)
Surfin USA!
Me having my 1st mai-tai ever! And I even got carded- ha! I think the bartender made it extra-strong on purpose....
Some funny ones which were also left off my web site.... :)
Ending with a kiss in a volcano~!
Sigh. I just watched 'Titanic' last nite. I guess I have romance on the brain. I cannot watch that without just bawling at the end. Plus Leo is such a babe. Sigh again!
OK, I guess it's back to reality.......................!
